Could Germany have won WWII if Hitler had listened to his greatest general?
General Heinz Guderian was the architect of the blitzkrieg. BUT
#1 ordered not to wipe out the British army at Dunkirk 1940
#2 ordered not to head Straight to Moscow 1941
#3 sacked when winter stopped Germans 20 mi. short of Moscow

“There are no desperate situations”.
“There are only desperate people”.
Hitler could have won if he had listened to Admiral Raeder.
Germany’s best chance to win was immediately after the fall of France by crossing the English Channel, but Hitler and Goering both bungled up the air battle, and the RAF stopped “Operation Sealion” before it even started.
Despite this, Germany still had an opportunity to win the war. Grossadmiral Erich Raeder put forth an extensive plan that used Italy and France as major bases…
1) at the time Admiral Donitz was to strangle Britain with the U-boat Arm. Once Britain ran out of fuel oil, and other supplies, mostly coming from America, they could not continue fighting effectively.
2) Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria could easily be persuaded to join the German-Italian Axis. Yugoslavia was questionable, and Greece was unlikely, but both could be overrun by German and Italian forces, however, there was no attack on Crete in Raeder’s plan.
3) Malta, not Crete was to be taken.
4) Spain was to be made to agree to allow the Nazis to transport troops to Gibralter (thus keeping Spain neutral and closing the Mediterreanan to the British by taking Gibralter.)
5) There was to be NO declaration of war against America for any reason. Germany needed the USA to stay neutral to even the balance of wartime trade between Germany and Britain.
6) The Deutsches Afrika Korps was to be expanded into a truly formidible force that could drive the British out of Egypt and into the middle east. This would close the Mediterreanan entirely to Britain and would bring German troops to the borders of Persia, which had a large pro-German population.
This would likely give the Germans the leverage to get Turkey to join the European Axis and would put German troops close to the Russian caucusus and open up the way for a drive toward India.
With U-boats strangling Britain at home, and the short cut through Suez and Gibralter cut off,Britain would have been marginalized and Germany would have gained the oil reserves necessary to fight a long war. And with the main source of Soviet oil now within striking distance, Stalin would have likely been advised not to provoke a confrontation with Germany.
If Hitler had followed this plan, the war would have been won by 1943, and even if the British didn’t surrender, they would not have been in a possition to do much, and with the beginning of the Pacific War in 1941, they might have to surrender to Germany anyway to defend their colonies from the Japanese.
